In a previous post, we discussed how far infrared can help with one of the most common reasons people are working out, to support their mental health. That’s not the only popular goal where far infrared might be able to offer you an assist. As it turns out, weight-loss goals can also be aided by FAR infrared heat.
Thinking back to our article on stress and mental health, you might remember that infrared hat has been linked to stress relief as well as a myriad of other mental health benefits. Stress, as explained by Clearlight, is often a factor in why people struggle to lose weight. One way it achieves this is by releasing endorphins. In addition to making you happy, endorphins have been found to regulate your appetite, which means you might find yourself less tempted to stray from your healthy eating goals.
It’s not only stress relief which can help with your weight loss either. A study at Binghamton University looking at infrared saunas found that increasing core body temperature as infrared heating does results in a decrease in body fat. Infrared light heats our deep tissues ,and then boosts our metabolism. A higher metabolism makes it possible to burn more calories. Circling back to stress, chronic stress can also decrease our metabolic function.
There’s a lot of options when considering your weight loss journey, just like there’s a lot of options for bringing fitness into your life. But in an area that can often be fraught with challenges, why not choose the path of least resistance? Our classes use radiant heat to warm your body as you workout, as opposed to typical hot yoga practices which heat the air around you, which means that not only will you be doubling up on weight loss potential from working out in a space with radiant heat, but also you’ll be far more comfortable than in a room heated with stuffy hot air.
Try out infrared heating for yourself in one of our classes. We’ll look forward to seeing you in the studio soon!
